A weekend day, so out and about!
Thanks as always to Chad for creating it, and check out everyone else's 12s here!
1) Bank of England, London
I live on a DLR route, so I got the DLR all the way to Bank, and then figured I'd walk the short distance to the Museum of London, seeing what photos I could get on the way. I've not been out much around that area for a few years now. This is the Bank of England.
2) Guildhall, off Gresham Street, London
An old Police public call post! Not quite TARDIS size though...
3) Gresham Street, London
Lloyds Banking Group building. I like the architecture, and how if you look in the middle gap, there's tiered planted shrubs!
Zoomed out look, with the sunken gardens of I think St Zachary's graveyard in front:
4) Noble Street Roman ruins, near London Wall, London
They've excavated some Roman ruins, from the original London Wall (it helped slow the Great Fire of London, preventing damage on the other side). This is standing on the Noble Street viewing walkway, looking down and towards London Wall now. For more Roman London places and sights, see here.
5) Museum Of London
The last time I was walking around this area, I think I came at it from a different street, and I could not for the life of me see how you got up to the museum. I could see people walking over the raised walkway, but it was a cold, grey day so I didn't try finding out. This time I found it quite easily.
6) Museum of London
Horse statue outside the museum entrance.
7) Museum of London
Entering the Roman Britain section (the only one I really looked at today).
8) Museum of London
Looking at a model of Roman life - down by a harbour I think.
9) Museum of London
Signs (I assume authentic ones that were once used in London at some point), by the entrance/exit.
10) Walking towards St. Paul's Cathedral, London
Around this time, I ducked into a Tesco Metro to get something to eat. And then (for the second time this week) was incorrectly charged for something. I disputed it, and even went to take a photo of the price tag, and showed it to the sales person. Still didn't believe me, and he asked another guy to go and check. This one seemed inept too, coming back to ask again what I was querying. Finally I gave up and just dumped the few things I'd tried to buy, and left. Tesco, FAIL.
11) Paternoster Square, near St. Paul's Cathedral, London
Man and sheep. Not much more to say than that! (I'm sure it has some reference to the name of the square... and it seems it does. Paternoster means "our father" (I thought that much), and the statue is of a bronze shepherd and sheep. OK, makes a bit more sense now.)
12) Starbucks, Paternoster Square, near St. Paul's Cathedral, London
I'd been trying to be good, but after Tesco wound me up, I went for a Starbucks. They didn't really get my drink right, but I'd already had to ask them to put the caramel drizzle on, so going back a second time (on top of the Tesco faff) was just not on.
Bonus(es)
St. Paul's Cathedral, plus a little sliver of the moon in the top right corner.
New wellies I bought. I've not had wellies since I was a kid, but I've volunteered for a Trees for Cities tree planting day at the end of the month, and I don't have any suitable shoes! These are funky, and I can wear them on rainy days to walk to/from the Tube or DLR (my boots tend to let in water as a stone pierced the sole).

Beautiful! Love your wellies. I have a fun pair I've used on rainy days to walk the kids to school, and I quite like them.
I adore the photo with the modern glass buildings overlooking the ruins of the Roman wall. Fabulous.
love the boots!! and it's for a good cause. i'm glad to hear to went on with that thing. you had mentionned it previously on one of my posts. the cathedral looks splendid and i loved the horsie in front of the museum is too darling for words. luv' it!! a great show all around and... you did it on time!!!

Love the bonus pic of St Pauls... never been to the Museum Of London... I usually make a bee-line for the science Museum when I'm in town.
Alas, now that I'm one of them 'grown-ups' , I can no longer get away with playing with the interactive exhibits any more... :(
London architecture is amazing. Planning to take a trip in 2012 with the choir I'm in - won't have much time for site-seeing, since we'll be performing, but I can't wait!
Your wellies (golashes?) are awesome. It doesn't rain enough in California to need proper rain boats, but maybe I should make an acception for such cute shoes!
I love the picture of the signs, and your boots! Funky & fun!
My favorite has to be Noble Street Roman Ruins - the photo has such movement to it!
Oh wow! Almost my old stomping ground. I went to Music College at the Barbican and used to walk from Bank station to Moorgate through the city streets every day. I know lots of the square mile pretty well. Plus at school we used to have our services at the cathedral. Always so lovely to see St Paul's.
Glad you had such a great day out!
Sus xx
Love, love, love your wellies! And that photo of the street signs is super! I missed the 12th (again...as usual!)but I sure enjoyed yours (again and as usual!)
Hiya Helen, one of the great things about London (or anywhere really) is there is always something amazing to see.
Particularly like that bank building, for a modern building it's quite nice.
And the wellies, of course :)
I love, love, love your boots. I always enjoy your walks around London. You find such interesting things for s to look at. The Museum bulding is beautiful, as is the Lloyds building. See you next month.
Lost my original post; darn. Anyway, I love the boots. The are so cute, and I think I need a pair just like them. As always, I love your walks around London. The museum building is so pretty, and I liked the Lloyds building, too. Sorry about your mess as the Tesla store. See you next month.
I hope the third time is the charm. My posts keep disappearing. I love your boots and think I need to have some just like them. Your walk around London was so nice....I love that you do that. The museum building is striking, as is the Lloyds building. I love that you have ruins right in the middle of town, too. See you next month.
PS - I'm glad you like the portrait version of the coop.
Great London views again, isn't St. Pauls one impressive building. Love your wellies ... of course you couldn't go past them, they are so cute.
Beautiful pics! Your pics are inspirational....I'd love to visit London one day. The setting for your pics couldn't be more different than mine!! Thanks for commenting on my pics.
Thanks for commenting.
Nice shots of the architecture. I wouldnt worry about the size o the Tardis on the outside, it's what is on the inside that matters.
