12 of 12 (v5.0) - April

Another month, another 12... Whereas for the last 9 or 10 months I've taken the 12th of the month off (if a work day), this month I didn't. Mostly because I'd taken 1.5 days off last week (and with the bank holiday on top of that), and partly because I was meant to have 2 big team meetings today. Which ended up only being one big meeting, but still... I figured with it staying light for longer now, I could still get enough decent photos.

So anyway - Chad's idea as usual, and here's a full list of people joining in, check them out!

1) 7:47am - My flat, Lewisham, London

Photobucket

Morning shower - a small photo of my new shower and bathroom, as you've not really seen my new flat.

2) 8:50am - My flat, Lewisham, London

Photobucket

Going for a self portrait close up - thinking I'd be short on photos today (turned out not to be an issue, but I liked this anyway).

3) 9:01am - Lewisham, London

Photobucket

Spring buds on the trees, hurrah! On my way to the DLR station to go to work... Hi ho, hi ho...

BONUS) 9:27am - Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

Ha! No photo of my Starbucks drink this time, but the place! I thought, as I was putting this post together, that I'd not managed to get an actual bonus shot this month. I'd got 13 yes, but one of them didn't qualify as a bonus theme for this year (recreating a previous 12 of 12 photo). But as I came to add comments, I realised this counts! I accidentally recreated photo 6 from November 2008's 12 of 12! (that photo taken from the left side, this month's is from the right side of the sign).

5) 12:21pm - Work, Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

Checking Facebook on my lunchbreak. For photographers, I'd recommend checking this group's website out - I'm a photographer, not a terrorist! Too many people getting stopped and even being arrested, for simply being amateur photographers. Because God knows, a terrorist is going to scope a target out with a pricey dSLR, lenses, camera bag and tripod. It would never cross his mind to use an iPhone, cameraphone or point and shoot and therefore blend in with the hundreds of thousands of tourists (rather than the mere hundreds or few thousands with dSLRs).

6) 12:23pm - Work, Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

Lunch - bean and Quorn chilli with rice and a soft tortilla. Wolfed down in half my lunchbreak as I had to finish something up before going for food, and had to stop lunch early to set up a telco.

7) 12:53pm - Work, Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

Setting up the telco - a conference call with a Webex to share my desktop. One room in the Canary Wharf office for people to join in person, some dial in from their desks, and several more dial in from Europe and NYC.

8) 5:39pm - Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

Leaving the office, and finding a new angle to photograph these buildings. Say what you will, but I like a lot of the buildings in Canary Wharf. Who says functional can't be beautiful too?

9) 5:46pm - Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

Walking around for some more photos, before I stop at the Tesco for ingredients and then get the DLR back to the flat. This is Cabot Square, up the road from my office. See, pretty! Trees, lamps, tall buildings...

10) 5:47pm - Canary Wharf, London

Photobucket

... and fountains too! This is a fountain whereby it's several steps high, and the fountain encircles the edge of Cabot Square (with another fountain in the centre). Playing with the shutter speed here for a little blurring.

11) 7:50pm - My flat, Lewisham, London

Photobucket

Chopped veggies, ready to start cooking the risotto.

12) 8:35pm - My flat, Lewisham, London

Photobucket

And the finished product. Yum.

Bonus - 8:36pm - My flat, Lewisham, London

Photobucket

Ah, Malcolm Reynolds. Cap'n Tightpants. Or as he is here, Cap'n No Pants :D I watched "Out Of Gas" last night, and then as the DVD was still in the player tonight, I watched the other episodes on that disc. "Trash" (seen here) while eating, and then "Ariel" and "War Stories" while making this post. Funny how despite seeing this episode several times, I don't remember noticing the tattoo on Mal's right hip...

Thought it'd make my geeky friends smile, to see this photo at the end :D (for the non-watchers out there, this is Firefly, a show that got cancelled criminally early. It spawned the film Serenity, and you should watch both the series and the film, and fall in love with both. Just too damn good.

So there you go, another 12 of 12 done. Hope you enjoyed it!

I knew you'd manage 12 fantastic photos even when you had to work for the day! All of your food looks scrumptious...except the Tesco Cookies & Cream ice cream. Hahaha...who tries to pass off vegetables as ice cream? ;)
(They do make beautiful vegetables though!)

As always, great photos Helen! I really like the spring blossoms and the Canary Wharf shots. I was actually there once many years ago. Thanks again for the great shots of your day.

I love the one with the spring buds best, how the old mingles with the new; your self portrait is a success too. Great you managed to take pictures even while working ... I did that twice and then decided to take the 12th off ...

Nice photos this month! I too am in the midst of a Firefly marathon of sorts; we're even on the same disc. I just watched "War Stories" last night.

Egads it's a naked Nathan! I hope you watch Castle as well Helen for extra Fillion goodness.

Well I have to say this months photos even on a work day are gorgeous as ever, especially like the shot of Canary Wharf and the lamp posts. Not sure why, but I knows what I likes :)

Great photos, Helen. I always look forward to yours. I particularly like the shot looking up at the buildings and the waterfall. It's fun to play with shutter speed.

You work in Canary Wharf, Helen?? That place still exist after "Doomsday"? ;)
Wow ... famous place and a real "Fandom meets Reallife" moment *g*

Anyway, these are great pictures. Looks like you had great weather and great entertainment (you enjoy torturing us with naked!Nathan, don't you?!?!)

Bec - ha! Well it used to have ice cream, but then I thought I could use the tub again. And I could use it to store the chopped veggies for a good photo (rather than use a plate and get pepper juice over it).

Aimee - yay for being a reminder! :D

Pete - I don't get the cable channels (I've not even hooked the Freeview box already in the flat up to the TV), so I only get Nathan through my DVDs ;-)

Nici - ah yes, it survived. Though I've not spent Christmas in London... last year I came back December 30th! Actually, a fun fact - if you watch Doomsday and see the Daleks rising into the air, look for the round-edged building, it's the Reuters one. I work there! (well now it's Thomson Reuters, but still...)

I just left a comment to your comment on my blog re: Doctor Who lust, and then you go and show me Mal in the Buffon your blog. I'm sorry - were there 11 other photos? I didn't notice.

Dogeared, very good photos, love the black & white (especially for your self-portrait).

Like the "industrial" coolness of your office and building pics.
