229 - Dawn (aka Postcards from Los Angeles - Dawn)

Theme 300.

Dawn to me, normally means first light. It might coincide with a sunrise, but not always (it depends on the weather conditions). But these photos don't show first light exactly. They were taken very early in the morning, but you wouldn't know it to look at them. It was my first morning in California, and my friend lives very close to Huntington Beach, in Orange County. I went for a walk, and this was around 8am maybe? Because I was walking right along the beach, the mist was very heavy, and it didn't even begin to lift until maybe 10am. It was eerie, walking along the beachfront and being able to see only a few palm trees ahead of you. Walkers, runners, cyclists - emerged and disappeared into the mist quickly.

So these are 4 photos from that first walk. I've adjusted the contrast levels slightly of the first, to give it a grainy feel, and of the third one (the group of palm trees) - though I can' tell the difference when it's posted! But the other ones are SOOC (straight out of camera). So you can see just how grey a morning it was. These were all shot in black and white.
