176 - Queue

Theme 314.

Photobucket

Ah, Starbucks. Makers of my favourite hot drink, the Caramel (Signature) Hot Chocolate, with cream and caramel drizzle. Although I swear, there are only two barristas who can make it 100% to my standard (one being the manager, the other being the black-haired girl barrista on the right of the shot). I had a guy this week hand me my drink and repeat the whole thing to me, and I'm not sure whether he put chocolate powder on instead of caramel drizzle to poke fun at me (hey I've worked jobs like this, where you laugh out back about the crazy customers who will make you redo a drink or a sandwich or always have the same thing), or whether he honestly thought he HAD put drizzle on. Not sure which is worse :P

Anyway - this is from earlier in the year (yes, I'm going through my 2008 photos to see if I can catch up a bit). It featured in the March 12 of 12 (I got confused trying to find this entry, and then remembered. When I made all my posts draft until I could redo the watermarks, I needed a break after redoing the 366 theme posts, and never rewatermarked my 12 of 12 posts. So I'll add the link to the post later when I do it).

Not quite as many people/as obvious a queue, but that wasn't the intention when I took the photo - I wanted a black and white documentary-style photo of a workplace, of my day, of Starbucks. And without wanting to draw attention to myself from the other customers (or the barristas, if I wasn't allowed to photograph), I quickly just got a couple of photos. This was the better of the three. But still, it shows my viewpoint from in the queue, and you can hopefully imagine yourself in the queue, waiting.

Good thought on a view from the queue; wish I was standing in line with you, I love Starbucks and have none where I am.

I wouldn't have thought to do this in B&W and find I like this version.

I want a Starbucks in Dresden... :pout: Great photo, and the b/w works really well.

It works for me! I remember this shot from your 12 of 12, and I remember your description of your favorite recipe. We got to Starbuck's every Sunday morning, before church, and maybe I'll try to get them to make it for me tomorrow. I'll let you know if they manage it.

This reminds me of a great moment I had with my then 15 year old nephew when we went to London on vacation last year. He and I checked in at the airport, and the ticket agent told us that from there we need to go wait in "Queue" for the security check. So as we near security, my nephew starts looking around like he is lost, and the he finally says, "Jojo - I have no idea where we are supposed to go, the letters only go up to 'F'."

You captured the atmosphere of the queue very well.
