175 - Perfume

Theme 68.

Photobucket

Taken a while back (but still 2008). I think I was just hoping for a better photo, but never bothered trying to redo the perfume one! I actually posted the colour one (below) as the main photo here, deciding against using the black and white. I liked the b&w better for overall and composition, but part of the perfume is the colour of the bottle, and partly, the b&w wasn't the right tone.

Before hitting "submit" though, I decided to include the b&w as the second, bottom photo. Then I decided to work on the tone - so I adjusted the brightness and contrast (as close to PSing as I ever get, and as I understand it, you could adjust both of those if you developed from film). Then the b&w ticked all my boxes, so it became the main photo and the colour one is below as a second one. Edit: weird, it's the right tone in Elements, but a little lighter in my Blog. Which is a shame. I might play more with it later/tomorrow. Edit 2: got it a bit better.

It's called "Fantasy" I think, by Britney Spears (just checked, and yes it is). Don't laugh! I smelled a sample once in a department store with Gem, and then later bought a bottle of it (duty free) on a flight up to visit Gem and Jon. I very rarely use it (not in the habit of applying perfume and besides, with a 2 hour commute door-to-door to work, travel would often undo the perfume anyway). It's sweet and fruity though.

Regardless of who came up with the scent/design, it's cute! Very nice!

Like the colour version of this, very pretty reflected in the mirror! Lovely composition Helen.

A great example for how b/w can make you imagine things differently from how they really are. I would never have guessed that the perfume bottle was really pink, so I'm glad you posted both pictures. It's a very lovely perfume bottle.

I can't decide whether I like the b/w or color one best. Both are great. Such a beautiful bottle! And nice work capturing it. I think you got the b/w one right-on as far as brightness and contrast.
