140 - Friend

Theme 43.

Photobucket

There's a story to go with this [lol]. I'd gone to see Montmartre and the Sacré Cœur. At the top, I saw a group of people with a little camping stove, and a sign - "Friterie Cam". They were cooking chips in a little pan over the stove, and I stayed around a little bit, then wandered off (not sure I could take photos). One of them - Cam as it turned out (the smiling one on the left of the photo) - wandered over to me with a paper towel holding some little chips, and some mayonnaise and ketchup. There were about 4 or 5 little chips for 10 Euro cents, I think.

At first, I'd thought it some kind of scam maybe - but then when she said that, I figured hey, why not? And then maybe I could ask for a photo. So I ate them, and went over to talk. The guy holding the sign saw me trying to get a photo, and told Cam and the girl next to her to turn round for a photo. Cam was wearing a white lab coat with some photos and her name on the back, and her friend had the same camera as me, and spoke good English so we chatted.

Turns out Cam is getting married in August - I forget whether it was she or her future husband who was Belgian, but I think the gist was that her husband had encouraged her to have some days of fun this summer with her friends - to make some memories to remember (I might be filling in gaps here, but that was the impression I'd got).

I think it's the end of August she marries - I have a date somewhere in the 20s in my head - so good luck to her and future hubby. She certainly gave me a memory to keep from the trip!

It's so fun to meet a stranger (or two), and leave as friends! Cute picture, Helen.

Great story, Helen, and great to go back and get the shot.

Oh wow! Helen... I just love you so right now.

First, and without regard to this picture, I checked my email this morning on my cell phone and saw your many blog comments and thought, "OH YES THANK YOU -- something to do while I sit in a traffic jam in construction zone on my drive back to my parents' house from the lake this weekend."

I read them all before getting out of the traffic jam but at least you made the first half of the jam MUCH more bearable!

Second, I had an interesting weekend that made me appreciate certain things like good quality friendships -- I soooooo appreciate you taking the time to comment thoughtfully on my pics. :smooch:

And now for the picture -- :w00t: that these folks were there doing such a fun and nice thing for strangers the same day/time that you were up there. It's a great story and a fun picture. :) I love meeting friendly strangers.
