Theme 311.
Taken in the Cimetière Montparnasse (Montparnasse Cemetary) in Paris. For anyone who's not been there, or thinks it'll be macabre or depressing - it's oddly not. These aren't gravestones. They are little chapels for the most part, about the size of a phone box - inside, is space for a candle or wreath, and an inscription on the wall. They often have engravings, stained glass windows or designs cut into the door, such as this one, where someone's also placed a rose.
(I have some photos showing how many memorial chapel boxes and tombs there are, but check out that link and see the zoom aerial photo!)
Edit - and no Photoshopping was done, I only altered things like the light setting and the exposure compensation on the camera itself (it was overcast again). Oddly, it looks duller when viewed as I type this, but it looks bright in Photobucket and in my Blog.

What a great image and interesting description of the cemetery.
That sounds an interesting cemetary and it's a great shot!
An amazing image. Very poignant.
(And I, too, find that the pictures, after being posted here, are less vibrant and sometimes less sharp than the originals.)
Wow, what a great find!
I have a thing for cemetaries. This photo is like a beautiful arty post card.
Well done!
