Theme 2.
After getting my crepe ("Power") and doing a bit of shopping, I was wandering down the High Street and encountered this guy. He seemed to be some kind of silent statue/mime, reacting to music and with a horn and spray - oh and you could only see his upper body. The lower half was hidden somehow, in one of those magic boxes (where one side of the box is open and you can see a pillar inside it - and put your hands around the pillar and everyone wonders where the person's lower body is).
Anyhoo, I watched him for a bit and then continued on my way. But as I came back up the High Street to get my bus, I saw the music had now changed to the famous "Laughing Policeman" song, and I wondered if he would laugh, when the song did. And sure enough, he mimed laughing - and gave me this photo.
The reason for the background being so pale and soft focus, is because it's actually seen through glass. The "policeman" was in the little entranceway of what used to be the Next clothes shop, before it moved over the road to a bigger shop. The entranceway was a kind of V-shape (entered from the High Street), and so the background here is as you look through the glass windows that formed the front and side of the shop. That also explains the line of black dots above his head - they're on the side window.

That is one happy guy! Beautiful contrasts!
Looks like lots of great street theatre in Exeter, I hate that laughing policeman song though, I used to hate it as a child when it would be on the radio .......
