88 - Secret

Theme 52.

Photobucket

This is Parliament Street, in Exeter. It's featured before in a 12 of 12 of mine, but I sought it out the other day for this theme. Why "Secret"? Because it's so easy to miss, that few people know about it. You can see its narrowness - at the end there, is a man walking past the gap between the buildings.

The Guildhall shopping centre has a few streets leading in and intersecting, and one of these runs parallel to the High Street. Parliament Street connects the two. The High Street entrance looks like this (and shows how it's easily missed):

It is believed to be the narrowest street in the world, width 25 inches, increasing to 45 inches.

Wow, I can't believe that's a street! So small :)

Love the angle/depth of this shot, it feels like it goes on forever.

What a creative idea for the theme. I can't believe that is a "street!" Your perspective is great. It just pulls me right into the photo.

Why do they call it a street, I wonder? An interesting image especially with the pedestrian passing at the other end. Well done...

Can you imagine if as a postman, you had to deliver a letter 26" square to that street. ;-)

I think I must have missed that street when I was in Exeter ;0), I will have to ask my brother if he ever noticed it.
