Theme 196.
See post 14 - Ice, below this one, as they kind of go as a pair (shot the same time, same day), for the blurb about the mist appearing. Cliff Notes version - teeeensy bit worried when I'd get to do fog. Saw it, snapped it.
And specific now to this photo - I was mainly using black and white, as it showed the fog better. I saw the sun shining through the trees, and how your could see its rays - and phew of phews, managed to capture them! I ended up with a few shots I really liked, so was torn over which one to use. In the end, I've chosen one, but have to include the second one, for you to see as well!
I'd taken some outside our house, then walked up the road which runs behind our house (where I took the Ice photo below), and then took these two photos as I came back to the house.
And the bonus, because it really was that hard to decide - I liked the rays in the one above, but the overall eerie feel of this one too!

Fantastic shots! I really like how you caught the rays on this one, and the second has a more mysterious feel to it! Both are superb!
Those are terrific shots and the black & white effect shows them off to great advantage. Lucky that you captures the rays - they can be hard to get...
We've had no fog up here for a while. When I lived in the vale of York we got it quite a lot.
It's amaxing what you can get photo's of when you're out walking even a short distance. I forgot to take my camera out yesterday (doh).
I love how you captured the rays. Grammom
Terrific, terrific photos, Helen! I love the first fog one, although both are great. I, too, am wondering how I'll ever get "fog." Here in the high desert there's not usually enough water to get it - but occasionally along the Rio Grande. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed. Seemed to work for you!
Eerie! We've not had fog in ages. The B&W really works for these shots. x
Gorgeous!! Love them.
Ooohh it looks secluded and ominous...like something I'd like to wrap myself up in!
Wonderful pictures! And the black and white really adds to the eeriness (is that a word?) of the scene. Love them!
The rays are beautiful in the first one. Did you meter for the lighter part or stay with an overall matrix metering?
I have no clue how to shoot fog when I do finally get some to shoot.
These are wonderful shots! We have lots of fog here during the fall, so I'm hoping to get some good shots near the river. I love how eery these are, but they're beautiful at the same time.
